VOTING IS CRUCIAL – BE PREPARED FOR THE JUNE 2ND PRIMARY
We are all worried that Covid-19 might somehow delay the November election. We can do our part to make sure that doesn’t happen by showing up for the primary election and by demonstrating that NM knows how to absentee vote or Vote by Mail.

REQUEST YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT HERE
As you may know, our Secretary of State, Maggie Toulouse Oliver, and several county clerks have petitioned the Supreme Court to allow Vote by Mail for both the Primary and General elections. A hearing is scheduled for April 14th. At the moment, we need to be prepared for both scenarios: a regular voting session and a Vote By Mail election.
The SOS is asking that voters request an absentee ballot for the June primary. If the Supreme Court does not allow Vote by Mail on April 14, it will be important that as many of us as possible vote absentee. This will reduce the numbers of people at polling places and make voting safer for everyone. By having tens of thousands of people request an absentee ballot, the SOS can also demonstrate that New Mexicans are ready to vote. This helps against any argument that the primary should be delayed because it isn’t safe or that voters aren’t ready.
We are urging everyone to get their voter registration information up to date (if needed) and to request an absentee ballot now. Whether or not the polls are open for Early Voting or Election Day voting, in this Covid-19 world, utilizing an absentee ballot is still our safest option.
