The 2019 New Mexico State Legislative Session begins January 15th and continues through March 15th, 2019. With approximately 4,000 bills in play, how do we advocate – effectively – for those most important to our members? Navigating the course of a bill from its writing to its passage, while avoiding the pitfalls of its getting stuck in committee or being vetoed by the governor is no small task.
We’ve cherry-picked bills dealing with issues which were identified early on as those Nasty Women would follow, and fight for: Education, Immigration, Good Government, Disability and Human Rights, Gun Safety, Healthcare, the Environment, Criminal Justice Reform, LGBTQ, Women’s Reproductive Rights and Economic Justice and Equality.
Remember “We’re Stronger Together?” We’re also smarter, more efficient, and one heck of a lot more agile, when we team up with organizations who already know the ropes and whose 2019 legislative priorities are also ours.
Pick your issue, find your trailblazer, and learn not only how to follow your bills, but what you can do, and – if necessary – when to move on, re-group, and bang the next drum. Loudly.
